Background:
In the late twentieth centuries, the socialist-called
'single-party dictatorship' and 'state economy' ruled out all over the world
without some exceptions of China, North Korea, Cuba Vietnam and Laos. it was claimed that Neo-
liberalism had been won over the all ideologies and political practices but not
justified.
Thus, the people began to seek 'alternative democracy' and
'alternative economy'. Not only by anyone angle, but from multiple angles.
There is not only in the framework of political system and economy, but
for philosophical methodology, mass life-style, democratic culture, inclusion of marginalization,
working style of the state and administrative bodies, people searched for
newness from many angles.
Up to twentieth-century what was called socialism,
proletariat state or communist democracy; today people need the alternative of
these things. And the alternative needs to What was called free open market
economy based on perfect competition and liberal democracy of Multi-party parliamentary system That is, today the ideological calculations have come together . That
is, It is the 'Post-capitalist' and
'Post-communist' era at the same time. The world is passing through an
unprecedented ideological crisis. Therefore,' the alternative politics' today
has become an important question of the world.
In this context the building process of new parties has
started from the end of the first decade of the century. These parties are not
exactly the same in all countries and all aspects but there are many
similarities among them.The examples are 'AAP' of India, Pakistan's
'Tehreek-e-Insaf', Italy's 'Five Star movement, Denmark's 'The Alternative' 'In Marche' of France etc. Basically, these parties have given emphasis on
transparency, good governance, non-hierarchical inner-party democracies, social
system based on equalities and participation of commons in the decision-making
process.
In Nepal, be the Congress and the Communist parties have
also become the two poles of the twentieth-century political prejudices
mentioned above. Just as the world has
an ideological crisis, these two parties in Nepal have been governing somehow
for the last three decades. But development, good governance, well-cultured democracy
and prosperity in the country has not been developed.
Therefore, in Nepal, the search of alternative democratic
parties and alternative political polices and programs are a link to global
crisis of neo-liberal and State-enteric socialist system. It is an effort to
discover the new form of polity and economy in the era of post-communism and post-capitalism. In the epoch of postmodernism we need the different form
than the state-owned socialism and
new-liberalism.It is not only global phenomena but also a special requirement
of Nepal.
The debate of alternative politics in Nepal is the dynamic
yield of both the processes of the country and the world. In Nepal, two major
modern parties ' the Congress' and 'the Communist' have been ruined
by the inefficiency, abnormalities, deafness and despair. This reality can
not be understood by sitting in the boundary of twentieth century's analytical
method. This specific requirement can not be observed by old knowledge. Hence, the alternative politics is the
process of 'updating' political philosophies, ideologies, polices and
programs
Campaign of
Positive Thinking:
In the mainstream existing politics opposing a other parties
and ideologies, treat them as enemies is common culture.They are blaming and condemning each other as corrupted, abused and reason of all evils. Covering the mistakes of others
is considered to be the art, skills and ability of politics.
Alternative politics is far different from this trend. It
does not condemn to all old, rivalry and competitive parties. It does not claim
to they all did evils. Towards the old parties it has a positive view of the good things
they do. They did very things better in the past history. The alternatives think that Competition
between real competitors may be 'excellence is born'. Therefore alternative
politics is a positive thinking campaign throughout the world.
Nobody is an enemy in democratic politics. The use of words
like 'class enemy' is not explicit. People are in different parties and ideas
by the difference of attitude. No one has to be enemy. The competition in
democracy is not among Poor and bad not only of good and evil but among good,
better and the best. It is the thinking of alternative politics to transforming
democracy into a competition of good and good.
Out of the scriptures, with life:
Fundamentals have strong influence on classical trends. They
make a promise, ideology, path, tradition or ideology of moral life. In fact,
this kind of thinking begins with a kind of inertia. In fact, the scriptures
are never more important than life.
Life is not for a promise, ideology, path or ism but
promises are for life. Ideology, path or
ism is for life. When there is a contradiction between the principles and life,
alternative politics leaves the principles. Lives life. Hence, alternative
politics is outside of scriptures and with life.
Alternative politics sees views and party as a tool, as a
mean not as an end as a destination. If a thought loses the ability to improve
the society and the country, it is not necessary to die for it and believe on
it. New ideas can be made. New philosophy can be created. New principle can be
created. The idea, philosophy, or principle is not to be protected by absolute
faith; they are believed to be something new to create.
The party is the same thing. The party is not a temple,
mosque or church. When the party loses ability to prosper the country and the
nation it can be left and a new party can be created. The party is also
believed to be created by people.
This does not mean that alternative politics is thoughtless, theory-less and ideology-less anarchist view.
Rather, its ideological concepts are more advanced, sophisticated,
consistent, practical and pragmatist. It
creates an idea that can be clear, transparent and can be applied immediately.
It does not want mold to society according to the scriptures. It molds the
scriptures according to the desire of the society.
The five beliefs:
The first belief in alternative politics is that every
alternative can be an option. Nothings are option-less in the word. One has said
that 'God may have the option, why not the concept of thinking?' When nature,
universe is dynamic itself, naturally human society is also dynamic.
Alternative politics has thought that any 'set theory',
'grand narratives' or 'common faith of society' depend on certain time and
space.And then it is relevant or irrelevant or 'merge' in each other. The society
does not have the same 'set theory' or 'grand narratives' in any particular
period like any other period of time.If it remains; it becomes inauspicious,
due to oldness and starts to hurt the society.
The second belief of alternative politics is not bothering
on prejudices of past. It is a
future-looking think. What and where happened yesterday, where was it, that
happened is not so outstanding to future. History divides and hopes of future
unites. Another interesting point on history is- The purpose of studying
history is to make its 'interpretation' but even the 'beautiful interpretation can
not change the facts of history, but it can create a history newly. Hence, there is no need for anyone to stay in history of
past in alternative politics. History should be read. Interpretations can make
for learning and lessons.
The third belief of alternative politics is a positive
thinking. It is considered to be the key to 'projection' their thoughts rather
than being opposed to others. Therefore, there is no 'space' for the reflection
of anti-ideas in assemblies, discourse, speeches, interviews, articles,
documents. Instead, efforts are being made to keep their plans known to their
people.
The fourth belief of alternative politics is to create great
messages from the small works. The ability to do great works is not with anyone
in the world. The small work of all is a great task. Great homes are made of small
bricks. If everything is left as small things there is nothing left the
great.Therefore, the improvement of self-reliance is to be done by the strategy
that will be a major improvement.
The fifth faith is the most importance to human relations
and happiness of mass. Those who do alternative politics do not hurt people's
self esteem. How people can be happy and
joyful should always be careful about it. It should not be assumed that the
price of big things like party, revolution, principles, if the people suffer
from it no meaningful. Parties, politics revolutions and principles are to be
for people.
Politics has only developed politics and economics, the
effort of alternative politics is also to develop happinomocs. Happiness is
most to creation. Without creation, good
ideas are not born. Without the good ideas, creative power does not arise.
Without creative power, there is no positive result.
The progressive Option:
Alternative politics does not work to leave the Left and
keep right. It is not an alternative politics to return to the monarchy or
conservatism. The alternative politics is to be believed to be better, more efficient, more beautiful, more human and more pioneer than all the basic
fundamentals. So this is a progressive campaign. This is not a follow-up
campaign. this is also a campaign to build.
Therefore the alternative politics is not the left only, nor
only the democratic, but the left-democratic. Its agendas are left-hand,
methods and processes are democratic.The alternative politics does not walk by
the deer or daddy. It does not make the destination sloping towards the left or
on the side. Instead, the dynamic balance of both feet moves towards the front.
It is also known as 'Frontism' but neither left nor right only.
Electoral Future of Alternative Politics in Nepal:
Many people think that the topics raised, content advocated,
agendas debated by alternative politics in Nepal are good. The concept is the
best. But its electoral future is not sure.They think the party which has
agendas of alternative politics cannot be extended among voters in countries
like Nepal. Voters want the parties' throughout the massive revolutions to
caste the vote.
The purpose of politics is to facilitate the dynamics of
society not to win the election always. It may take some time. But the public
is discretionary. They do not have any prejudice to anyone. They watch some
time to examine but doesn't upset and opposed to alternatives.
In the recent election, there were two parties claiming the
Alternatives- NayaShakti Party, Nepal and The BibekshilSajha Party. If
connecting the two parties' votes, the volume was more than the National
threshold. This is not so unusual at such a short period of time. In the first
election, alternative politics has become Nepal's 'Political Trend'. It is not
a joke. Now, 5 years of exercise and hard work is also a great time. The next
election can be expected to be good.
